people would be more engaged if we got to start later it's hard to get up and we don't have enough energy to study being here so early it's hard to pay attention because i'm still kinds tired from waking up when you go into our classrooms right now there's a lot of starbucks a lot of coffee thermoses they'll tell you they aren't really awake and focused until 3rd and fourth period. the principla of novato high has been pushing the idea of letting kids come to school later.so the students can get the sleep studies show teens need. right now novato high is considering having the first bell ring at 830. it's not just so they will be better students.sleep deprivation has been linked to depresson and anxiety. the pros are the health and safety of our kids they need to get 8-9 hours of sleep at night it's not physically possible for kids to go to bed before 11-12 oclock at night the district has formed a later start committee looking at the possibility of moving back start times for their 3 middle schools and two high schools. they are working out the logistics and hope to have a decision made
